Lynn M. Wayand, 92, passed away peacefully on August 21, 2026, at Glendale Home in Glenville, New York, surrounded by the love of her family.

Born on September 30, 1933, in Schenectady, New York, she was the daughter of the late Walter and Margaret (Hooley) Dupree. She was a graduate of Scotia-Glenville High School and carried the lessons of her upbringing into every chapter of her journey.

On October 2, 1954, Lynn married the love of her life, Donald W. Wayand. Their marriage was a lasting partnership filled with devotion, family, and shared memories until Donald’s passing in 2019. Together they built a beautiful family that was the center of Lynn’s world.

Early in her career, Lynn worked for General Electric in Schenectady and retired from the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation in Albany . Outside of work, she remained active in her community and faith. She was a lifelong communicant of St. Joseph’s Church in Scotia and a member of the Glenville Senior Center. She also enjoyed time with the Piston Poppers snowmobile club, where she shared in friendship and fellowship.

Lynn found happiness in life’s simple pleasures. She loved traveling and especially enjoyed motorhome trips throughout the United States. She was also known for her baking, particularly her banana bread, pumpkin bread, and apple pie, which were enjoyed by family and friends alike. Above all, she treasured her role as Nana to her grandchildren, a title she wore with pride, love, and endless affection.

She was the loving mother of Michael Wayand, David Wayand and his wife Lori, and Thomas Wayand and his wife Lori. She was predeceased by her son Mark Wayand, who passed away in 2025.

Lynn was a proud and cherished grandmother to Tamara, Jonathan, Marissa, Brittany, Justin, Andrew. She also delighted in her great-grandchildren, Hannah Jane, Skylar, Finnley, Chase Robert, and Harper Margaret, each of whom brought her great joy. In addition to her parents, husband, and son Mark, she was predeceased by her brothers Donald and Wayne Dupree .

A calling hour will be held on Friday, August 28, 2026 from 10am to 11am at St. Josephs Church, 231 2nd Street Scotia. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11am at the church. Interment will be at St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Schenectady.
