Obituary

Paul E. Reid, 80, of St. Augustine, Florida passed away on Friday, August 7, 2026, following a peaceful

transition into Heaven with his children by his side and friends and family praying for him. Born on February 6,

1946, in Syracuse, NY, he was the son of the late James Reid and Carrie Mae Horning, as well as Emma and

Lincoln Fisher.


Paul was a graduate of Gloversville High School. He served in the United States Navy from May of 1967,

receiving an honorable discharge in August 1971. He served on the USS Hancock aircraft carrier and served

two tours of duty in the Vietnam War. Paul received the following honors; National Defense Service Medal,

Vietnam Service Medal, and Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal.


Paul attended Fulton Montgomery Community College and SUNY Albany, earning his bachelor’s degree in

accounting. Paul was employed by H&R Block, Cash, Bassett, Delsavio & Co CPA's, Universal Financial

Services, Inc, and Ropan & Pepe, CPA's before opening Reid’s Income Tax and Bookkeeping Service in

January 1984 in Gloversville, NY. He retired to Florida in 2016.


Paul was married to Susan C. (Rose) Reid. Together they celebrated 29 years of marriage and raised five

children. Paul was very active in the Boy Scouts of America, serving as a Troop Leader for his sons. He was a

member of the Loyal Order of Moose Club and Fort Plain VFW. Paul also served as the Gloversville Fifth Ward

Common Council member for several years. He enjoyed hunting, camping, golfing, traveling (taking the scenic

route of course), hiking, skiing, and spending time with his family.


Paul was preceded in death by his wife of 29 years, Susan C. Reid; his sons, Aaron E. Reid and Christopher P.

Reid; his mother, Carrie Mae Horning; his father, James Reid; his brothers, Carl Reid and Harry Reid; and his

great-granddaughter, Caroline Clute. Also preceded in death was Emma and Lincoln Fisher who cared for Paul

from an early age.


Paul is survived by his children, Annissa (Jim) Clute of Daytona Beach, FL, Meghan (Timothy) Allmon of Lake

Como, FL, and Matthew (Charlotte) Reid of Palm Coast, FL. He also leaves behind his grandchildren, Collin

(Cassidy) Clute, Devyn Clute, Dominic Allmon, Alyssa Allmon, and Owen Reid, as well as his great-

grandchildren, Charles and Charlotte Clute. He is also survived by his brother, Earnest (Suzuko) Reid, along

with many nieces, nephews, cousins, tax clients and friends who will remember him with love and affection.

A graveside burial service will be held on Saturday, August 29, 2026 at 1:00 PM at Evergreen Cemetery in

Fonda, NY. Arrangements are under the direction of Watts Funeral Home in San Mateo, FL and Mason

Memorial Home in Amsterdam, NY. A celebration of life gathering for Paul will be held at the Crescent City

Moose Lodge on Saturday, September 12, 2026 at 1:00 PM.
